JUNIOR SOUS CHEF @ HAWKER HALL
Originally from Jalandhar India, Gurdev Singh came to Australia with the intention of studying an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality. After graduating, Gurdev applied for a kitchen hand position at Chin Chin upon it’s opening in June 2011.
Chin Chin was Gurdev’s first ever job in a restaurant. He had never even used a knife in a restaurant kitchen. However he knew he wanted more then to just work as a dish hand and soon asked if he could pick up extra shifts in food prep. He started working two extra days on top of his dish hand shifts so he could learn kitchen prep. From there he quickly worked his way though the prep stations, deciding he most liked working in the Larder section. But the Head Chef of Chin Chin saw more in him and urged him to take over at Curry station then on the Pass. Fast forward 4 years to Hawker Hall’s 2016 opening, when the Head Chef of Hawker Hall recruited Gurdev for his team in the BBQ section. Today Gurdev is employed as Junior Sous Chef and also looks after the production team.
